An isothermal batch reactor is a type of chemical reactor in which a reaction takes place in a closed system (batch mode) while the temperature is maintained constant (isothermal condition) throughout the process.

A batch reactor is a vessel where:

• Reactants are charged at the beginning
• The reaction occurs over time
• Products are removed only after completion
• No material enters or leaves during the reaction

In an isothermal reactor:

• The temperature remains constant during the reaction
• Heat generated or consumed is controlled using cooling/heating systems
• Ensures stable reaction conditions and easier analysis

• Operates under unsteady-state conditions (concentration changes with time)
• No inflow or outflow during reaction
