An auto 3-point pH meter operates using a glass electrode and reference electrode system. When the electrode is immersed in a solution, it develops an electrical potential proportional to the hydrogen ion concentration (pH) of the solution. This signal is amplified and processed by an internal microprocessor.

The instrument performs automatic calibration using three standard buffer solutions (commonly pH 4.0, 7.0, and 9.2 or 10.0). The microprocessor stores calibration data, compensates for temperature variations, and displays the pH value digitally with high precision.
